About Seino Auctions

Fifteen years of curated rare Asian collectibles auctions, from our viewing gallery in Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta.

Our Beginning

Seino opened in the spring of 2011 with a simple ambition: to build a small, trusted auction house in Jakarta where the Asia-Pacific region's most discerning collectors could find rare heritage pieces and exceptional Asian collectibles with complete confidence in provenance and authentication. What began as a handful of curated sales in a converted townhouse in Kebayoran Baru has grown, over the last fifteen years, into one of Southeast Asia's most respected boutique auction houses for Asian rarities.

Our viewing gallery in Jalan Gunawarman remains intentionally modest. We believe that careful curation, direct relationships with consignors, and unhurried expertise are worth more than scale — and that a smaller house can pay the kind of attention to every lot that a larger one cannot.

Our Philosophy

Every lot that passes through Seino is authenticated by our in-house specialist team and provenance-verified against family records, academic references, and professional storage documentation. For high-value heritage pieces, we partner with independent experts and academic institutions across the region to verify attribution, period, and cultural context. We work closely with a small circle of private consignors, estate executors, keraton families, and collectors across Indonesia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia.

We are not interested in volume for its own sake. Our aim is to present, every six weeks, a focused catalogue of lots we would be proud to own ourselves. After fifteen years, our reputation rests on one simple promise: every piece is exactly what we say it is.

Our Journey

A small auction house, quietly evolving year by year.

  • 2011 — Seino holds its first auction with a catalogue of 80 lots, largely sourced from a single Javanese heritage collection.
  • 2014 — We open our permanent viewing gallery on Jalan Gunawarman and begin hosting preview weeks before each auction.
  • 2016 — Launch of online absentee bidding, allowing collectors from Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore to participate alongside our live Jakarta room.
  • 2018 — Our in-house authentication team is established, partnering with academic experts for attribution of Chinese ceramics and Indonesian heritage pieces.
  • 2020 — During the pandemic we move to fully live-streamed auctions with real-time bidding. Our international bidder base doubles over the following year.
  • 2023 — We expand into rare Japanese whisky and vintage Chinese teas at the request of long-time clients, adding new specialist categories to our catalogue.
  • 2026 — Fifteen years in, the same careful authentication, the same trusted consignors, and a growing community of bidders across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

What We Auction

Our bi-monthly catalogues feature a curated selection of rare Asian collectibles across four specialist categories:

  • Japanese Whisky — Karuizawa, Hanyu, Yamazaki, Hibiki, and other silent-distillery rarities
  • Chinese Antiquities — Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain, jade carvings, imperial ceramics, and classical furniture
  • Indonesian Heritage — Royal keris, court batik, Peranakan textiles, Dayak artefacts, and wayang figures
  • Rare Tea & Asian Art — Vintage pu-erh and oolong teas, ukiyo-e prints, Tibetan thangkas, and Southeast Asian scrolls

Every lot is catalogued with full provenance notes, authentication documentation, condition reports, and our estimate range. We also offer consignment services, private treaty sales, collection appraisals, and heritage advisory for private clients and family collections building long-term holdings.
